The Hayride Is The High Point Of The Day.

As soon as school opens in late August, our telephone starts ringing with requests for reservations for school tours. Little did we know when we started Louisiana's Christmas Forest in 1985 how popular school tours would become. They are very educational and fun for teachers, parents and children.

The hayride is the high point of the day. Our larger haywagon runs every 30 minutes, taking a different class around the farm each time. After the hayride, most classes cut their own class tree and learn how a "choose and cut" farm works.

They get a close-up look as their tree is shaken to clean out any dead needles. The pines need shaking, but not the Leylands, since the Leylands normally have no dead needles.

And there are lots of other things to do as well.

Everyone can visit Prince, our 2400-lb. Clydesdale draft horse, browse through the children's shop in our Tree Barn or eat a picnic lunch. Picnic tables, cold drinks, clean restrooms and a water fountain are available.

We host tours for over 6,000 students annually. The cost is only $1 per student. For more information and/or reservations, please call 225-654-3247 or email mimi@southerntrees.com mimi@southerntrees.com.
